Christina Baik

Christina grew up in the Chicagoland area and graduated from Swarthmore College’s Honors Program in 2008 with a degree in English Literature and Sociology/Anthropology. While at Swarthmore, she was an active leader in the Swarthmore Christian Fellowship and studied literature, sociology, and art history in Spain and South Korea. Following graduation, she worked at a multidisciplinary arts center in Philadelphia through a fellowship affiliated with Americorps*VISTA. Then Christina found her calling as a teacher over her two years teaching middle school English, Spanish, and a course she created called “Identity in Community” at a Quaker school. The moral implications of teaching compelled Christina to undertake theological study. The ISM is a perfect fit for her interests in Biblical studies and how the creation and interpretation of literature can serve as a powerful means of engaging theological questions.
