Job Description:
The Church at Point O’Woods seeks a Director(s) of Music/Organist
commencing the 2018 summer season for either a 12 week season or 2 six week
consecutive periods starting June 14 and July 23, 2018.
The position requires a credentialed professional who will lead the musical
program in a 100-year old non-denominational Protestant community Church
located in Point O’Woods, a 135-home family community on Fire Island, a
barrier beach 60 miles from New York City.
Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to:
-       Leading Adult Choir, Children’s Choir and teenage Handbell Choir
rehearsals.
-       Performing during the Church service on Sunday morning (Prelude, Postlude,
and 3 anthems).  Organ is an Allen L-341DK.
-       Take the major role, with the assistance of the Church Committee Chair, in
orienting guest clergy in preparing for worship services. Act as colleague
and guide, with a view to both maintaining and protecting the consistency,
continuity, and integrity of the liturgy, but also to provide a welcoming and
supportive worship environment for our guest ministers-in-residence.
Included in the compensation is a 3 bedroom apartment, one complimentary
parking space, access to all recreational facilities of the community and day
camp for children.
