Library adds three more gospel legends to its collection of oral history interviews

May 14, 2024
Yale’s Oral History of American Music (OHAM) collection recently added three Grammy Award–winning artists to its roster of interviews: Lady Tramaine Hawkins, Richard Smallwood, and Bebe Winans. The three gospel artists were in New Haven for “Anthem of Praise” on April 19, a concert sponsored by ISM’s Interdisciplinary Program in Music and the Black Church to honor the life and music of Richard Smallwood.

Ambre Dromogoole, MAR ’17 and PhD ’23, assistant professor of Africana religions and music in the Africana Studies and Research Center at Cornell University, conducted the interviews. With these three additions, there are now 30 interviews with gospel greats in OHAM’s collection. Read more in this Yale University Library story.
