West wall of baptistery during excavation

YUAG, Dura-Europos Collection, negative number y286

This photograph records the wall painting of the Good Shepherd and the figures of Adam and Eve in situ on the baptistery’s west wall under a pillared canopy prior to its removal from the site. The painting was located above a large font. The Good Shepherd stands on the left with a sheep on his shoulders and a flock of sheep appears on the right. The figures of Adam and Eve in the foreground on the left were most likely later additions.
