Craig Kirkland, new communications coordinator
In January, the ISM welcomed Craig Kirkland as the new communications and marketing coordinator.
Craig is no stranger to Yale. For the past eighteen years, he has held several roles in Yale’s Law, Sterling Memorial, and Bass Libraries.
For many years Craig was also a fulltime professional violist, and he still performs part time. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees from Florida State University. Groups he has performed with include Opera Theater of Connecticut, Goodspeed Opera, and the Vermont, Albany, Greater Bridgeport, Norwalk, Eastern Connecticut, Tallahassee and Pensacola symphonies, among others. Additionally, he has played on tours for Josh Groban, the Moody Blues, Frankie Valli, Andrea Bocelli, and Natalie Cole, and has participated in a number of recording sessions as an orchestra member.
Craig can also be seen briefly as an orchestra member in the Robert De Niro film Everybody’s Fine and received a credit for music consultation work in the Cannes Film Festival-screened horror film The Transfiguration. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, cooking, watching movies, listening to music, and riding wooden roller coasters. He lives in the New Haven area with his wife Dr. Vikki Abrahams, a Yale Medical School faculty member, and their extremely adorable mixed-terrier rescue dog Pretzel.
