ISM singers win awards at oratorio competition
Congratulations to mezzo-soprano Sandy Sharis, M.M.A. ‘24 and soprano Juliet Papadopoulos, M.M. ‘24 for both winning prizes in the recent annual Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition in New York. Sandy won the William Grogan Award and Juliet won the Leopold O. Damrosch Award following a finals recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on April 13. The Solo Competition was inaugurated in 1977 to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give emerging singers an opportunity to advance their careers. Oratorio Society of New York Music Director Kent Tritle and a panel of distinguished judges chose the competition winners and awarded cash prizes.
