Danny Rivera - M.Div. ’27

Danny Rivera

M.Div. ’27

Danny is a vibrant vocalist, composer, and civil rights activist who merges avant-garde artistry with a passion for social justice. Drawing from Black church traditions and Afro-Puerto Rican culture, Danny’s unique sound is showcased in his project Songs of Free Men, which delves into the legacy of Negro spirituals. Outside of his musical pursuits, he enjoys exploring nature and indulging in good books. As an artistic director with a passion for ethnomusicology and anthropology, he crafts immersive experiences that blend the afterlife with archival exploration, offering a unique form of time travel through art and culture. Founder of Danny Rivera Productions and the Artist Initiative for Revolution, he is excited to be a member of the Yale community, to learn from other changemakers.
