Description: the Yale Institute for Sacred Music is co-sponsoring “Echoes of Attica”, a play with rap and gospel music that commemorates the 51st anniversary of the 1971 Attica Prison Uprising. The play features gospel singer Naomi Wilson and rapper/poet/activist BL Shirelle who have spent a combined half-century behind bars.
Other co-sponsors include the Arthur Liman Center for Public Interest Law and the Law and Racial Justice Center, both at Yale Law School, the Yale Divinity School, the Yale Repertory Theatre, the Yale College Department of Theater and Performance Studies, the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University and the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life at Wesleyan University.
