Description: A Behind-the-Scenes preview of the process involved in developing the Gospel/Rap performance that will be presented in Marquand Chapel on March 4 at 3pm. Gospel singer Naomi Wilson and rap/poet/activist BL Shirelle, who have spent a combined half-century behind bars, will present scenes from the play about the transformative power of music and poetry for currently and formerly incarcerated citizens. They will discuss the process of creating the script with ISM Fellow Ron Jenkins and the director of Yale’s Southeast Asian Language program, Dinny Aletheiani, who will also be performing.
