Description: Medieval historians in the tenth through the twelfth centuries were of many stripes, and hence created the past using a great variety of materials. This paper outlines the importance of liturgical sources and methods, as well as the roles of cantors and other liturgists, in both the recreation and representations of the past, as well as in the writing of history.
