Padma Shri Gundecha Brothers have received high accolades for their performances and have been enthralling the audiences with their music all over the world for over 25 years. They are among the most active performers of Dhrupad music in Indian and international circuits.
Born in Ujjain in Central India, both were initiated into music by their parents. They received conventional university education as well a training in Hindustani Classical music for over two decades. They finally immersed themselves in the Dhrupad music under the guidance of Dhrupad maestros Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar and Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. They have also sung traditional compositions of Tulsidas, Kabir as well as Hindi poetry by more recent Hindi poets Mahadevi Verma, Padmaka, Nirala and their own compositions in the Dhrupad style.
