Location: ISM Great Hall, 409 Prospect Street, New Haven

Description: What does it mean to remember God, or God’s saving acts? What does it mean to claim that God remembers us? Using fieldwork studies of various congregations’ worship, Professor Garrigan will examine the theological claim that God has a memory. She will explore the relationship between this idea of God’s character and the ways in which Christian worship, in its prayers, songs, symbols, and even space arrangements, is itself a process of remembrancing.

Siobhán Garrigan is Assistant Professor of Liturgical Studies at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Yale Divinity School.

Refreshments for the mind, body, and spirit will be served.
