Event description:

Yale Camerata’s first concert of the season “Out of Time” will be on Saturday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m.  Dr. Felicia Barber, conductor, has selected repertoire that explores the many aspects of time, and its ability to be elusive, fleeting, and precious. Texts will examine periods of time in memorable moments, seconds, minutes, hours, and seasons, beginning with creation and moving through to through to the end of time. The featured work is Fern Hill by John Corigliano which highlights the text of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas:

“…Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means, Time held me green and dying…”

The masterwork will be performed with orchestra and feature Yale School of Music soloist mezzo soprano, Adriana Zabala.

Other music will be from Rosephanye Powell, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Reena Esmail, Jennifer Lucy Cook, Hall Johnson, Roland Carter, and Susan Brumfield.

Yale Camerata is a seventy-voice vocal ensemble whose members are Yale graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and experienced singers from the New Haven community. Conducted by Dr. Felicia Barber, the ensemble performs a widely varied spectrum of sacred choral literature, with a special commitment to choral music of our time. Read more about the Camerata.
