Welcoming Loraine Enlow, ISM's new admissions officer

The ISM is delighted to announce the appointment of Loraine Enlow as the new admissions officer. Loraine brings with her a host of experiences germane to this role and this academic unit.
 
After receiving a double degree in viola performance and theoretical studies from the New England Conservatory, Loraine entered the Ph.D. program in ethnomusicology as a Century Fellow at the University of Chicago where she researched Coptic liturgical practice in diaspora. She is now enrolled at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York where she is pursuing a doctorate of Hebrew literature and researching biblical exegetical entanglements in medieval Jewish and Christian commentary.
 
All the while, Loraine has worked actively as an educator and church musician in New York City and elsewhere. Notably, she began a choir school at Holyrood Church (Episcopal) in Washington Heights, NYC, which served at-risk, immigrant children and youth in a daily after school music, academic enrichment and tutoring program.
 
In 2015 she was appointed music associate at St. James’ Church, Madison Avenue, where she worked with both children and professional liturgical choirs. The following year she also took up a post as director of admissions and summer programs at Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue, recruiting young children to the renowned Saint Thomas Choir School, an elite boarding school for select and talented boys.
 
Loraine succeeds Father Mark Roosien, Ph.D. as ISM’s new admissions officer.  She will direct a robust program of recruitment and review for ISM’s many student programs, in conjunction with the schools of Music and Divinity, as well as ISM’s fellows’ program and other programs of engagement. Her first day will be Tuesday, September 12. Welcome Loraine!
