Consort hero 2

Yale Consort, the ISM’s newly formed professional vocal ensemble conducted by Professor James O’Donnell, is embarking on a series of choral services this fall, including Evensong, Vespers, and Sung Eucharist. The weekly services will be held on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. during term-time in various New Haven churches. They will encourage quiet contemplation through hymns, psalms, canticles, prayer, and reflection. The first service of Choral Evensong will take place at Christ Church on September 24 and will feature the music of Dering, Stanford, and Tippett.

Founded on music from the classical tradition with a focus on Episcopal, Lutheran, and Roman Catholic liturgical traditions, Yale Consort provides high quality choral music, while also providing a valuable formational experience for Yale music and divinity students who gain crucial real-world experience by serving as organists, readers, and altar servers under expert faculty leadership.

Everyone is warmly invited to join us! View all upcoming services

James O’Donnell is professor in the practice of organ and sacred music at the Yale School of Music and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Prior to coming to Yale, he was the organist and master of the choristers at Westminster Abbey for twenty-three years.
