Stefan Parkman to conduct Schola Cantorum in concert of early music
On Sunday, September 29 at 5:30 p.m., Stefan Parkman, the new interim conductor of Yale Schola Cantorum will offer his first concert of the season with the university’s renowned ensemble. “Contemplation in Early Music” will include pieces by Claudio Monteverdi (from Vespro della Beata Vergine: Ave maris stella); Dietrich Buxtehude (Missa alla brevis); Orlando di Lasso (Tristis est anima mea); and Heinrich Schütz (Musikalische Exequien, SWV 279-281).

He was artistic director of the Academy Chamber Choir of Uppsala 1983-2023 and is a frequent and sought-after collaborator with major choirs and orchestras across Europe. He has also conducted ensembles in Japan, Australia, and the United States. His extensive discography includes recordings for Chandos, Dacapo Records, Footprint and Coviello Classics.
