ISM alums and students receive Grammy nominations
The 2025 Grammy Award nominees were recently announced and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music was well represented with ISM alums and students appearing in all five groups nominated for the “Best Choral Performance” category. We look forward to seeing the announcement of Grammy winners in February. Congratulations to all of the nominees listed below!
The Skylark Vocal Ensemble for Clear Voices in the Dark, whose members include tenor Haitham Haidar M.M.A. ’19 and bass-baritone Andrew Padgett M.M. ’14.
The Crossing for the album OCHRE including conductor Kevin Vondrak D.M.A. ’30, and vocalists Matthew Cramer M.M. ’17 and James Reese M.M. ’18.
Countertenor Daniel Moody M.M. ’16, soprano Molly Netter M.M. ’14, and baritone Edward Vogel M.M. ’19 for Handel: Israel in Egypt.
Bass-baritone Edmund Milly M.M. ’15 for Sheehan: Akathist.
True Concord Voices and Orchestra’s album, A Dream So Bright: Choral Music of Jake Runestad with tenor Steven Soph M.M. ’13, and Edward Vogel M.M. ‘19.
Congratulations also go to several other Grammy nominees who are Yale Schola Cantorum alums. Nate Barnett ’15 and Isobel Anthony ’20 are also members of The Crossing, the group nominated for OCHRE. Caroline Shaw M.M. ’07 composed the title track for that same album, and was also nominated in the “Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance” category for Rectangles and Circumstance, a collaboration with Sō Percussion.
