An honorary degree and hymn debut for Mark Miller at Christian Theological Seminary

Dr. Mark Miller, lecturer in sacred music at Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Yale Divinity School, will receive an honorary degree and debut a newly-composed hymn at Christian Theological Seminary’s (CTS) 100th commencement on May 18.
Dr. Miller, who will receive the Doctor of Divinity degree, is one of three honorary degree recipients who are chosen because their leadership exemplifies the core values of Christian Theological Seminary: advancing scholarship and formation, embracing diversity, working toward justice for all, affirming God-given human dignity, and promoting healing and wholeness throughout creation.
Dr. Miller is a renowned composer, worship leader, and advocate for justice through music. He has been a driving force for inclusivity within church music. A lifelong United Methodist, Miller’s compositions have deeply influenced the musical landscape of congregations across denominations, offering a prophetic voice for justice and equity.
As well as receiving an honorary degree, Dr. Miller will also preach the message at the Baccalaureate Chapel ceremony, where his new hymn, specially commissioned by CTS to mark its centenary, will be debuted.
Warmest congratulations to Dr. Miller and to CTS on this auspicious occasion!
