Congratulations to Juliet Papadopoulos M.M. ’24, Veronica Roan M.M. ’25, and Fredy Bonilla M.M. ‘25 for winning awards at the prestigious 48th Annual Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition finals concert held at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Juliet Papadopoulos received the Meyerson/Zwanger Award for second place, earning a $5,000 prize. Her exceptional performance captivated both the judges and the audience. Veronica Roan, a mezzo-soprano was honored with the Watson Family Award, accompanied by a $2,500 prize. Her stirring rendition demonstrated her considerable skill and passion for oratorio singing. Fredy Bonilla secured the William Grogan Award and a $1,000 prize for his compelling baritone performance.
The competition, inaugurated in 1977, encourages the art of oratorio singing and provides young artists with the opportunity to advance their careers. The Oratorio Society of New York is one of the oldest musical organizations in the United States and has become New York City’s standard for grand choral performance.
