Zach grew up in rural central Pennsylvania. His educational journey started in Classics at Penn State (B.A.) and SUNY Buffalo (M.A.) (and he played a little trombone along the way!). His love of singing, conducting, and immersing himself in Eastern Orthodox liturgical music took him to St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (M.Div.). After four years conducting the choir at St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral in Minneapolis, and then two years teaching at “Vlad’s”, he made his way to New Haven. Zach is a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Tolkien enthusiast, and lover of bread.
