A Successful 2023 Yale Organ Week
Thanks to all who gathered in New Haven in June to make “Yale Organ Week, 2023” such a resounding success. Held annually, this ISM-sponsored event offers a unique and enriching educational opportunity for advanced undergraduate organ students to work with some of the nation’s top artists/teachers on the Yale campus.
As part of the 2023 Yale Organ Week the Yale ISM is offered a series of organ recitals free and open to the public. Attendees had the opportunity to hear music played on three of Yale’s organs, including Woolsey Hall’s Newberry Organ, the Bozyan Organ in Dwight Chapel, and the Battell Chapel organ.
From June 18-24, students from all over the United States received daily lessons, participated in workshops on topics related to organ literature and church music, studied on notable organs at Yale and in the greater New Haven area, and heard performances by faculty and each other during evening events. ISM organ professors Martin Jean and James O’Donnell were joined by visiting faculty Janette Fishell (Indiana University), Nathan Laube (Eastman School of Music), and Jonathan Moyer (Oberlin Conservatory of Music).
