Christian Wiman’s Essay Celebrated in David Brooks’ Sidney Awards

ISM Professor Christian Wiman was acknowledged in David Brooks’ December 26 New York Times op-ed announcing the annual Sidney Awards, which honor the year’s most distinguished nonfiction essays. Brooks highlights Wiman’s Harper’s Magazine essay, The Tune of Things, praising its exploration of a reality that is mystical, fluid, and resistant to rigid explanation. Drawing on examples from physics, biology, and human consciousness, Wiman—the Clement-Muehl Professor of Communication Arts at the ISM and Yale Divinity School—challenges inherited divisions between reason and belief, science and faith, and even past and future.
