The ISM is delighted to introduce six new long-term fellows for the 2025-26 academic year. The fellows will spend one year in residence at the ISM and be an integral part of our community of scholars and artists. Each will pursue an interdisciplinary project and teach at Yale. Work by the incoming class of fellows features such diverse topics as the Andalusian religious song form saeta; queer and feminist art projects seeking to repair ecological imbalances; N’ko healers in Guinea and Mali; the intersection of Islam and hip hop; Quechua songs of the Central Andes; and the transcendence of authoritarian controls by musicians in Iran.
The new fellows include Katie Anania, Cesar Favila, Joseph Hellweg, Su’ad Abdul Khabeer, Felipe Ledesma Núñez, and Payam Yousefi. They will join returning fellows Elliot K. Canfield-Dafilou, Clayton Goodgame, Lav Kanoi, Harini Kumar and Tyler Sampson.
